Spanish Car/Spanish registration, or a German car/UK plates to be imported to Spain?
Many customers think that it is illegal to drive a UK registered car in Spain.
This isn't true.
Under current EU regulations, you can import any car in any EU country, providing the vehicle is registered in that country if it is meant to stay longer than 6 months.

For example, Mr Smith imports his LHD Audi Q5, on UK plates. He is legal to drive his car in Spain within the 6 first legal months. He will then need to transfer the car onto Spanish plates. The process is quite simple, and no import tax will be required nor any other CO2 pollution tax the Spanish have implemented.
Is it cost effective to import a car in Spain?
The answer is yes and no.
Yes it is, if you want a quality Left Hand Drive Car from Germany, and if you wish to access particular models that are rare or unavailable in Spain.
Lets face it, Spanish are not as tidy with their vehicles as Brits or Germans are!
No if you are looking to purchase a cheap runaround, or if you are looking for a standard manual, Ford Fiesta or Peugeot 207 for instance.
Do I need to register in the UK if I want to import the LHD car that suits my needs?
